Back to School!

It was a great first day of school for everyone. It was a Wednesday, the sun was out and there were smiles all around. Dad made a giant batch of chocolate chip pancakes and worked from home so he could walk the kids to school.

I also got to go back to school this year! I applied to NSD at the end of the school year last year - just looking for something part time as Chris hasn't been able to find higher paying work yet and the construction business is well, you know...Sooooooo, I applied but didn't hear anything all summer. Then 10 days before school starts there was a frantic series of phone calls as a 4th grade teacher at Frank Love needed a job share partner and hadn't found one yet and somehow was given my name. There were many delays and many moments where I was sure it wouldn't all work out (and maybe didn't even want it to), but the Friday before school started, I took the job and signed a contract. CRAZY. The principal only wanted to continue the job share if the teachers split the day and not the week so Pris teaches mornings and I teach afternoons and just like that I'm back in the classroom :). Chris has arranged his schedule so he's home in time to pick the kids up from school so finding a place for Nicholas has been my stress. Mom is coming up on Fridays and Chris is going to work from home on Wednesdays and I think M, T, Th we found a lovely little preschool that has an extended care option that would allow me to drop him off at 11:15 and stay until 3pm when Chris can pick him up. I really feel blessed about the whole darn thing but expect chaos for the next month or so :) as we all adjust. Let the good times roll!

I did It!

Okay, so this post is a little late in coming...

I did it and it was SO FUN! My only goals were to run the whole 5K and finish under 35 minutes. Attainable goals I thought and I totally did it :). My final time was 31:21 and I would run another race in a heartbeat.

Torchlight 5K

I just signed Chris and I up for our first 5K race!! I'm so excited...and just a little bit nervous :). It's on July 31st in the evening just before the Torchlight Parade. It'll be live on KOMO 4 News so maybe (if you tune in) you'll see Chris and I panting to the finish line. I figured that running on the parade route through downtown will distract me enough to finish the race. Can't wait to share the pictures!

1-800-RENT-A-GOAT

We got home yesterday to see this in our backyard!
And this...and this...

Our neighbors have RENTED goats for a week to eat the weeds, overgrowth and blackberry bushes in their backyard (and if I cross my fingers hard enough, they will wander over into our side of the backyard and eat our weeds as well!). Who knew you could rent a goat to do your manual labor for you?! Did you know? It's true.

www.thegoatlady.com. Genius. Pure genius.

How cute is that? I'm totally fascinated by the idea that there are goats wandering around in my backyard. I can't stop from looking out the window or checking on their progress from the back deck. They are hungry little buggers. I can't wait to see what they can do in a week. I'll keep you posted.

Baptism Day!

Baptism Day

March 6, 2010

Olivia

Grace

My Sweet Family

It was a special day for our family. A day filled with love and the spirit. Grace and Olivia were baptized and confirmed by their dad in a service that was simple, sweet and perfect. I am so grateful for the gospel and for Heavenly Father's plan for each of us. I am grateful for baptism. I am grateful for Olivia and Grace and their goodness and faith.

A Golden Anniversary

Happy 50th Anniversary Mom and Dad!

It was the perfect surprise. Kim, Jon and Laura, Julie, Jodi and Mike flew in on Thursday night and spent the night at Hotel Cirillo. On Friday morning, Steve and I invited Mom and Dad out to breakfast to celebrate their 50th Anniversary with our families. After we were seated, Mike, Jodi, Julie, Jon and Laura and Kim walked in one at a time and joined us at the table. There were tears, laughter, general disbelief and lots lf love. It couldn't of come off more perfectly. Here's to 50 more years!
I love you Mom and Dad!!

It's Great to Be Eight!

Happy 8th Birthday sweet Grace and Olivia!

To say that we are blessed to have you as daughters would be an understatement.

It was a weekend full of celebration.

We went to Red Robin for dinner on their birthday so they could be sung to. Red Robin did that and more by treating us to a song, a sundae and a visit from Red Robin himself.

The Friend Crafting Party on Saturday was a huge success. Treasure boxes, Fimo Clay and more beading than I should've allowed :) made for a great party. I think everyone had fun - even Matthew.

We finished off the weekend with the Family Party. Grace and Olivia were spoiled by the many people the love them. Lucky girls. It is certainly GREAT TO BE EIGHT!
